“iPass and US Wireless Online are natural partners
for making municipal networks available to high-value
enterprise users.” said Anurag Lal Chief Business

travelers need secure, on-demand connectivity
while visiting city centers. By working with US
Wireless Online to deploy the first enterprise-ready
WiFi network in downtown Pittsburgh, we ensure
that the nearly one million quarterly users of
our service will gain simple, secure and reliable
access when working in the city. Additionally,
providers like US Wireless Online help iPass create
wireless home broadband solutions that complement
our traditional DSL and cable options for home
office, branch and retail locations.”
As with all networks, the
US Wireless Online network completed iPass Enterprise
Ready certification that ensures that any network
added to the iPass global virtual network meets
a variety of reliability requirements and pass
stringent tests for interoperability with enterprise
security systems. iPass customers in the Pittsburgh
area such as Mellon Financial Corporation, GNC
Corporation, and Heinz Company will benefit from
this reliability and security, as well as simplified
use, management and billing.
“User adoption is key for
our network projects, and businesspeople are a
key audience that WiFi Pittsburgh must serve well
to succeed,” said Timothy J. Pisula, Chief Technology
Officer, US Wireless Online. “Partnering with
iPass gives WiFi Downtown Pittsburgh a turnkey
method for expanding the reach of its network
quickly with no additional cost and validates
our strategic commitment to making our network
open to third-party providers.”
iPass partners include many
of the companies responsible for bringing WiFi
Downtown Pittsburgh to enterprises, such as wireless
broadband leader, US Wireless Online; Tropos Networks,
the market leader for metro-scale, WiFi mesh network
